New Provincial Report Card

In September 2010, Premier Greg Selinger announced the introduction of a parent-friendly report card to ensure that parents get the information they need to be full partners in their child’s education.

The Provincial Report Card will help enhance the quality of education in Manitoba and build strong partnerships amongst students, teachers and parents. Beginning in 2013-2014, St. James-Assiniboia School Division will be using the Provincial Report Card for Grades 1 to 12 in all of our schools. Although you will notice some changes from the report card that you have been receiving, these changes are small ones and you will find that the new report is very similar to our current report.

A Parent brochure explaining the new report card has been written by Manitoba Education and is available on the Department’s website at:

The brochures will help explain the new report card and how your child has been assessed.

You can also view the template for the report card at:

The best information about your child's achievement in school is still obtained from your child's teacher.  We encourage you to contact the school should you have any questions about your son/daughter's report card.

Parent Council Play Area Development

Linwood School Parent Council has been fundraising through craft sales, plant sales, etc. over the past number of years to help gather enough funds to begin development of  the play area at Linwood School.

Last year we distributed a survey asking the school community to share their vision regarding this space and how we could address some of the areas of concern.

We have been working in consultation with Horizon Line Landscape Planning and Design to develop a potential concept plan for the project that will incorporate natural elements for students to use for learning and playing.

This is quite a large endeavor and requires a significant financial commitment.  Although our fundraising efforts will continue, we also plan to apply for grants to alleviate some of the costs involved.

If you would like to assist the play area committee, please contact the school office at 889-9356.

100th Anniversary

Save the date! October 18, 2013

We will be celebrating our school's 100th anniversary on Friday, October 18th from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Students, their families, and all members of the community are invited to attend.  There will be a "Nostalgia Room" with memorabilia from the school's history, student displays in their classrooms, and a commemorative unveiling.  No registration required.

A group of Linwood alumni are also busy planning social events for that weekend for former students and staff.  The group is seeking volunteers to help with planning and organizing.  Please contact Dale at dagltd3@gmail.com or 204-896-1570 if you are interested in helping out or having your name added to the guest list.
